As COVID-19 continues to present unique challenges, new changes to the 2020/21 school year calendar were announced on Nov. 9, 2020 by the Province of Manitoba. The following changes will provide teachers additional professional development and collaborative planning time as they work to adapt to student needs due to COVID-19. Schools in MVSD will be closed to students on the following dates for staff PD and collaborative planning time: Thurs., Nov. 26, 2020, Mon., Dec. 7, 2020 and Mon., Feb. 8, 2021. Roblin Elementary School is offering optional temporary remote learning for students who can be supported with learning at home for the period Nov. 30 to Dec. 18. In-class learning will also continue to be provided at school. Please click on the link for more details, including a link to a survey to indicate if your family is choosing the remote learning option. The survey closing date is Tues., Nov. 24th at 3:00 p.m.
On Nov. 10, Premier Pallister and Dr. Roussin (Chief Public Health Officer) announced that effective Thursday, Nov. 12, all of Manitoba is being placed into Critical Level – Red within Manitoba’s Pandemic Response System. There are no announced changes to the operation of schools at this time, with the exception of a suspension of after school extra-curriculars, including athletic activities. Although our region is currently in the (Restricted) Orange level in the provincial pandemic response system, MVSD is doing some forward-planning to determine how many Critical Service Worker (CSW) families within the school division will need their child(ren) to attend school in the event we experience a Critical (Red) response level. Click on the link for detailed information and to complete a survey for CSW families by Nov. 10th.
